Glazed Donuts

Glazed donuts

These donuts are pillowy inside with a quick glaze that sets with a gentle shine.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/2 tsp fine salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Glaze

  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Steps

  1. Mix flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Add milk and butter, then knead 5 minutes.
  2. Rest 45 minutes until puffy.
  3. Roll to 1/2-inch thick and cut donuts. Rest 20 minutes.
  4. Fry at 350F until golden, about 1 minute per side.
  5. Whisk glaze and dip warm donuts.

Notes

  • Keep the oil steady at 350F for even color.
  • Add cocoa to half the glaze for a two-tone batch.
