Ingredients
Crust
- 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp fine salt
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 3 to 4 tbsp ice water
Filling
- 2 cups peeled, diced apples
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Steps
- Mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter to pea-sized crumbs.
- Add ice water until the dough just comes together. Chill 30 minutes.
- Toss apples with sugars, cinnamon, cornstarch, and lemon juice.
- Roll dough, line a 6-inch pan, fill, and add lattice strips.
- Bake at 375F for 30 to 35 minutes until golden.
Notes
- Chill the crust before baking for clean edges.
- Swap apples for pear for a softer filling.
