Paneer Butter Masala

Rich, creamy paneer curry with a tomato-butter base and warm spices.

Paneer butter masala

A restaurant-style curry that is easy to make at home. Serve it with naan or rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 250 g paneer, cubed
  • Salt to taste

Steps

  1. Heat butter and oil. Cook onion until golden.
  2. Add ginger-garlic paste and cook 1 minute.
  3. Stir in tomato puree and spices. Simmer 10 minutes.
  4. Add cream and paneer. Cook 5 minutes.
  5. Finish with garam masala and serve hot.

Notes

  • Add a pinch of sugar if the tomatoes are too sharp.
  • Keep the heat low after adding cream.
